I listened to an interview with the author, Ann Walmsley, on CBC’s The Current and immediately put a hold on this book at my library. It’s released today and I’m number two in line.
Author Ann Walmsley has been involved in two prisoner book clubs. One was located at Collins Bay, a medium security prison in Ontario, and the other was at Warkworth Institution, a federal medium-security prison about two hours east of Toronto.
In her new memoir, The Prison Book Club, Walmsley writes about her experience volunteering as she gets to know six of the inmates through deep discussions about literature.
Right up my alley.
