Potential questions to ask reading group coordinators/facilitators

  • What kind of community needs assessment did your organization do prior to starting the reading program?
  • What were two or three specific pre-implementation actions that helped to ensure the program’s success?
  • Did you modify any aspects of the program after it had been running for a while, in order to increase effectiveness?
  • Who is the facilitator of the reading group meetings? What experience does this person bring to their role?
  • Please describe the process of a typical group reading session.
  • Who are the typical participants in the reading group? (no names, just general descriptions of the types of people involved)
  • What advice would you give to an organization wanting to start up a book club or reading group similar to the one you work for?
